Product recommendation widgets are blocks of products nudging your customers to buy more and pay attention to specific items in your store. You must have seen such widgets on eBay or Amazon. For example, they are Similar products, Customers also bought, You might also like, etc. They help you upsell and cross-sell products.
How can I add recommendation widgets to my store pages?
You can add recommendation widgets to your store using different methods depending on your Shopify theme type.
For Online Store 2.0 themes
Use Searchanise app blocks in the Shopify Theme Editor. Add the Searchanise Recommendations app block to the desired page, configure the settings, and save your changes. This allows you to place recommendation widgets exactly where you want them on your storefront.
For Vintage themes
There are two installation options:
- Automatic installation — Searchanise automatically places the widget at the bottom of supported pages, such as Product, Collection, Search Results, Cart, or Home pages.
- Manual installation — Copy the widget code and add it to the appropriate theme template. This method gives you full control over widget placement and appearance.
Where can I place a recommendation widget?
Recommendation widgets can be placed on any store page.
For Online Store 2.0 themes, you can add a Searchanise app block to any page and position the widget wherever your theme allows app blocks (such as Home, Collection, Product, Search Results, and Cart pages).
For Vintage themes, you can either use automatic installation on supported pages (such as Home, Collection, Product, Search Results, and Cart pages) or manually add the widget code to any theme template to display recommendations in a specific location.

- change a widget’s title and choose a number of products to show in a widget.
- adjust custom CSS rules in the Searchanise Search & Filter control panel > Merchandising & Promo > Recommendations section > Settings tab.
- change the button to show in the widget’s product cards or hide it in the Searchanise Search & Filter control panel > Merchandising & Promo > Recommendations section > Settings tab.
- show option swatches in the widget’s product cards in the Searchanise Search & Filter control panel > Merchandising & Promo > Recommendations section > Settings tab.
