A 404 error on the Search Results page usually means that the page used to display search results is missing or not properly configured in your Shopify store.
If the Search Results page was deleted
After installing Searchanise, a dedicated Search Results page is automatically added in Shopify admin > Online store > Pages.
If this page was deleted, you can easily restore it:
- Open the Searchanise admin panel.
- Click Force re-indexation in the left-hand panel.
- Wait until indexing is complete
The Search Results page will be recreated automatically.
Please avoid deleting this page again, as it is required for the search functionality to work correctly.
If the page exists but you still see a 404 error
In this case, the issue may be related to your theme.
Some Shopify themes may be missing the Default page template (used to render Pages), which prevents the Search Results page from loading properly.
How to check:
- Go to Shopify admin > Online store > Themes.
- Click Edit theme.
- In the Theme Editor, open the page selector at the top.
- Navigate to Pages > Default page.
If the Default page is missing, your theme does not include the required Page template. Please contact our support team — we will safely fix this for you without affecting your theme layout or existing pages.
