Customization of content in Instant Search Widget

This article is general for Shopify, BigCommerceWix, WooCommerce, Magento 1, Magento 2, CS-Cart.

It’s possible to customize what information, sections, widget elements to display to customers and how to show that in the Instant Search Widget. To do so, you should adjust the settings in the Searchanise (Smart Search & Filter) control panel > Instant search widget section > Content tab.

In this article, you’ll learn how to change the settings and get a clarification on how each setting affects the Instant Search Widget content.

Content settings description

Content setting Description
Pro features (these settings are not available for the free subscription plan)
Show recent customer searches Shows the search suggestions based on the recent customer searches if they match the current search query
Sets the maximum number of categories displayed in the widget’s Categories section. The widget won’t show the section if you set the value to 0.

The valid values are from 0 to 25.

This setting is absent on the Wix platform as the widget doesn’t have the Categories section.

Sets the maximum number of pages displayed in the widget’s Pages section. The widget won’t show the section if you set the value to 0.

The valid values are from 0 to 25.

Vendors qty. This setting is available only on CS-Cart Muti-Vendor v. 4.14.3 or later and Searchanise v. 1.2.2 or later.

Sets the maximum number of vendors displayed in the widget’s Vendors section. The widget won’t show the section if you set the value to 0.

The valid values are from 0 to 25.

Please note, that Searchanise hasn’t supported CS-Cart Multi-Vendor Ultimate completely yet. So if you have some storefronts with different vendors, Searchanise will display all vendors from all storefronts and their products in the search results on the current storefront.

General
Highlight search term Highlights the current search query in the widget’s Suggestions section.
Show the ‘View All Products’ link
Displays the View All Product link under the Products section for Legacy templates or the View All Items button for actual templates.
Search results order
Controls the order of the widget sections. To change the order, drag and drop the blocks.
Search Suggestions
Suggest single words Shows the single-word suggestions 
Suggest automatically generated terms Creates suggestion terms in the Suggestion Dictionary. based on successful customer searches from the found product titles and descriptions
Show popular suggestions on click Shows suggestions as the customers click in the search bar before they start typing. The setting will work if there are at least 5 suggestions in the Suggestion Dictionary.
Sets the maximum number of suggestions displayed in the widget. If you set the value to 0, the widget won’t show the Suggestions section.

The valid values are from 0 to 25.

Products
Show price Displays the product price in the product cards.
Show compare at price (Shopify)

Show list price (Wix, WooCommerce, CS-Cart)

Show original price (Magento)

Show retail price (BigCommerce)

 

Shows the original product price compared with the discounted product price if the product has a discount.

The enabled Discount labels setting overrides this one.

Displays SKU (the product code) in the product cards.
Sets the maximum number of products displayed in the widget’s Products section. The widget won’t show the section if you set the value to 0.

The valid values are from 0 to 25.

Sets the maximum number of strings displayed in the product description in the product cards.
Zero price action Sets the action if the product price is 0.
Zero price text Sets the text displayed instead of the zero price. The setting is shown only if the Hide zero price, show text instead option is set in the Zero price action setting.
Display additional
product field
Shows the selected additional product field in the product cards. You can set the label for the field in the Translations section > Instant Search Widget tab > Additional product field text box.

Adjust content of the widget

Steps:

  1. Go to the Searchanise (Smart Search & Filter) control panel > Instant search widget section > Content tab.
  2. Adjust the settings.
  3. To check out the changes, click the Preview changes button and type a search term in the text box next to the button.

  4. If you like the results, click the Apply changes button.
