Customization of content in Search Results Widget

You can customize how to display product details, the categories/pages section, and other elements of the Search Result Widget, enable/disable the features of the widget: option swatches, additional buttons, infinite scrolling, etc.

To do so is possible, adjusting in the Searchanise (Smart Search & Filter) control panel > Search results widget section > Content tab.

In this article, we would like to clarify how each setting affects the content of the Search Results Widget for Shopify, BigCommerce, WooCommerce, Magento 1, and Magento 2. If you have a store on the Wix platform, you can find a similar article here.

Content settings description

Setting Description
Search results page
Search results page title This setting is available only on Shopify.

Changes the title of the search results page.

Filters position Allows you to choose either show filters at the top of the page or on the left-hand side.

This setting is available if the Big Pictures template is set in the Template & Colors tab.

Infinite/endless
scrolling
This feature is an alternative to regular pagination and has 2 variations:

  • With Show more option – the Show more button is added underneath the product grid or list. Clicking it loads additional products.
  • Without Show more button – additional products are loaded automatically as your customers scroll down.

This setting is set to Disabled by default.

Products per page Sets the maximum number of products displayed per page.
Sets the default view mode for the search results in the Products section: grid or list.

If the Modern or Big Pictures Legacy template is set in the Colors tab, this setting applies to the widget on desktop and mobile devices.

If the Big Pictures template is set in the Template & Colors tab, this setting applies to the widget on desktop devices only.

Products per row for grid view on desktop Sets the number of products per row for the grid view on desktop devices.

This setting is available if the Big Pictures template is set in the Template & Colors tab.

Sets the default view for the search results in the Products section on the mobile devices.

This setting is available if the Big Pictures template is set in the Template & Colors tab.

Sets the default sorting of the search results in the Products section.

Changing the sorting, please note that low-relevance products may be displayed first if the default sorting value differs from Relevance.

Display option swatches This feature is available only on Shopify.

The Option Swatches feature allows browsing and selecting product variants on the search results page. The swatches are shown for size and color variations. A drop-down list is offered for other variations or if some of the colors are not assigned to color families.

If the Show relevant product variant option is enabled in the Preferences section > Products tab, product variants relevant to the search query will be preselected. Otherwise, product variants will be preselected according to the Display price format setting in the Preferences section > Products tab.

Default product image This feature is available only on Shopify, and it is shown only if the Display option swatches setting is enabled.

It has 2 variations:

  • Variant image – displays the product image of the preselected variant.
  • Main image – displays the main product image by default. The main image will change to the variant one when your customer switches option swatches.
Products
Show price Displays the product price in the product cards.
Show compare at price (Shopify)

Show list price (WooCommerce)

Show original price (Magento)

Show retail price (BigCommerce)

 

Shows the discounted price next to the original one.
Displays a button in the product cards. It shows on mobile and desktop devices. It shows on desktop devices when the mouse pointer hovers over a product card.

There are the following options:

  • View productopens the product page as clicking anywhere on a product card would. It is more of a call to action.
  • Add to the cardadds a product to the cart.
  • Quick viewopens the Quick view pop-up window with product details.

Quick view is available only on Shopify and BigCommerce. It also works only on desktop devices. On mobile devices, the View product button will be displayed.

Displays SKU (the product code) in the product cards.
Additional
product fields
Displays the selected additional product field in the product cards. You can set a label for the field in the Translations section > Search Results Widget tab > Additional product field text box.
This setting is available only on Shopify, BigCommerce, and WooCommerce.

Switches product image from the main one to the one uploaded second when the mouse pointer hovers over the product card.


Sets the maximum number of strings displayed in the product title in the product cards for the grid view.
Sets the maximum number of strings displayed in the product description in the product cards.
Other
Displays the category (collection) images in the search results in the Categories section.
Categories per page Sets the maximum number of categories (collections) displayed per page in the Categories section.
Show pages images Displays the page images in the search results in the Pages section.
Pages per page Sets the maximum number of pages displayed per page in the Pages section.

Adjust the content of the widget

Steps:

  1. Go to the Searchanise (Smart Search & Filter) control panel > Search results widget section > Content tab.
  2. Adjust the settings.
  3. Apply the changes.
